A brand for a pattern designer building a sewing community.

Branding

Emma is a sewing pattern and garment designer, based in Yorkshire. She’s working to build a business and sewing community that is inclusive and supportive, inspiring others to make their own clothes, and providing the tools to help them do so.

Her brand, Cinnamon Daisy, celebrates the female form in all its shapes and sizes. We therefore wanted the logo to encapsulate this. We explored many ways to represent the female form, painting, lino print, and collage - we also looked at more abstract representations, using simple shapes to hint at body parts and curves. Through all this exploration, we continued to be drawn to an early hand-drawn figure holding a daisy. She seemed to embody the essence of the brand.

The illustrated figure gives the brand a female focus - strong and confident but with a feminine softness. The arching text of the logo and shape that houses the figure is reminiscent of the shapes of pattern pieces and pockets.

The colours speak of Emma’s favourite season - autumn. They bring a natural earthiness to the brand that hints at Emma’s determination to run the business as ethically and environmentally friendly as she can.

We’ve really enjoyed watching the brand unfurl as Emma has embraced it and created beautiful assets using the toolkit.
